Abstract
The bronchodilator response to salbutamol delivered by MDI with a spacer device and by jet nebulizer was studied in stable 16 patients with obstructive airway disease(Change of FEV, between lst day and 2nd day was within 10%)
Patients received two puffs from an MDI attached to a spacer device(salbutamol 100§¶per a puff)on the lst day and salbutamol 0.25 mg of solution delivered in 2 ml minute and 30 minute after nebulizer or MDI therapy were obtained Both nebulizer
and
MDI
methods resulteded in improvement in FVC and FEV1 by 15 minute and 30 minute after treatment. Nebulizer method resulted in significant improvement than MDI only in FEV1 by 15 minute after treatment and others showed no significant differences.
This
study suggests that nebulizer might influence more effectively in an acute phase of obstructive airway disease than MDI.
